The birth of Twin and Tonic
So here we are Twin and Tonic!
Formed in January 08; it was originally the idea of my twin sister Karen. Karen was previously the singer and guitarist in the band Ninotchka for several years (they did wonderful Electro pop but finally decided to end the band last year) I had always hinted about her letting me join the band but she never took me up on my offer!
Anyway she came to me with the idea of forming this band; with the 2 of us singing; doing close harmony singing, jazz, swing; 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s songs. I have been interested in Burlesque, vintage clothing and the 40s and 50s era for some time so thought it was a wonderful idea!
Karen then started on the task of finding the rest of the band members. She roped in her old band partner Yannick who used to be in Ninotchka. He agreed to join as our drummer.
She then contacted an old childhood friend of ours; Jonny who we used to go to music school with every Saturday Morning. Karen was also in a band called fabulous Polyester with him we she was 16! Jonny is now our Pianist.
Karen used to work with Marcus who is our Bass player. She then found Max our wonderful Sax player. We performed 3 gigs together but really thought that we needed a guitarist in the band so after advertising on Gumtree we found Rohit! and so Twin and Tonic was born.
